Hello friends, I’m Mel, a Winnipeg native who’s been passionate about animals since childhood. School trips to the Narcisse Snake Dens opened my eyes to the wonders of reptiles, and a local pet store introduced me to my first blue tongue skink. An obsession with skinks was born that continues to this day.

About Mel’s Exotics

Mel’s Exotics (ME) became my business name in 2011 when my first litter of blue tongue skinks was born. Over the years, and with the help of many friends, it’s grown to a collection of over 50 animals. While we still specialize in blue tongue skinks, we also work with several other skink species, and a few miscellaneous reptiles.

Purchasing from ME

Mel’s Exotics is located in Winnipeg, MB and sells pet reptiles across Canada.

ME specializes in breeding Blue Tongue Skinks, which are typically born in the summer months here. Newborns remain here for at least two weeks to ensure they are eating and growing before being available to their new homes.

Prices and Discounts

All ME animals are priced individually, and can be viewed on the Available Page.

ME offers two $50 discounts to buyers:

  1. Be-Prepared Bribe: show proof of your enclosure being ready to go and I’ll give you $50 off.
  2. Well-Researched Bribe: join an online reptile/skink group to do research and ask questions and I’ll give you $50 off.

These “bribes” are my way to encourage buyers to be prepared for their new animals. I strongly encourage all buyers to take advantage of these discounts.

Terms of Sale

Mel’s Exotics reserves the right to refuse sale to any homes that I do not feel are safe or ready. Buyers are expected to have an appropriate setup ready and to know the basics of their new animal’s care requirements.

When you purchase from ME I ask that you agree:

  • To care for your pet to the best of your ability
  • To provide vet care if/when needed
  • To inform ME if your pet needs to be rehomed for any reason
  • To provide ME with occasional updates/photos of your skink (not required but very appreciated)

Shipping

Mel’s Exotics has teamed up with Reptile Express to offer shipping across Canada. We use special reptile packing supplies to ensure our animals travel safely and comfortably, and can ship through most of the year.

If you are interested in having an Available Animal shipped to you, please include your postal code when contacting ME.

ME does not offer shipping outside of Canada, sorry.
